REQUESTING BOOKS FROM ANOTHER LIBRARY
(Not a Shorter campus) When Shorter College borrows an item on your behalf from a distant library, we call this an interlibrary loan (ILL). Interlibrary loans can take from one to several weeks to complete. The loan period for ILL books generally ranges from 2 to 3 weeks, depending upon the policy of the lending library.
To Request a Book through Interlibrary Loan
- First, perform a search for the item in the Shorter College Libraries Catalog.
- If you do not find an entry for the item, go to the request form labeled Interlibrary Loan for Books. If you do find an entry for the item, it means that Shorter has the item and that an interlibrary loan is not necessary; instead, submit an Intercampus Loan Request for Books to obtain your materials.
- Fill out the form completely, then click the "submit" button at the bottom of the page. Interlibrary loan books typically arrive within two weeks.
When your interlibrary loan materials arrive at your campus library, you will be contacted by a campus representative. Pick up your materials from Michael Wilson at the North Atlanta Campus, from Ann Dabrowski at the Lawrenceville Campus, or from Bob Coleman at the Riverdale Campus. Rome students pick up materials at the library circulation desk. Please return interlibrary loan materials promptly.
