| Costa Rica: July 7-August 8, 2008
Raven Tommey, a rising senior Spanish major at Shorter, is individually studying abroad at the Universidad Veritas in Costa Rica. She is taking a Spanish class and an elective. Her husband and Shorter's campus ministries intern, Dustin, is joining her on the trip. On weekends, they will travel to different parts of Costa Rica.

Dustin and I are finally in Costa Rica! Today I have orientation at the Universidad Veritas....I am really excited, I am not sure what to expect though. We are staying with a host family in the Zapote neighborhood, and they are the nicest people ever! Patricia and Juan Carlos are the parents and then Karen & Brandon are their children. Also, their cousin Marco lives with them, and they are boarding two other study abroad students, Rachel from Texas and Lacey from British Colombia.
Already we have made some really good connections with people! I will try to send updates at least once a week if possible. We have great internet access at the home and Rachel tells me that Veritas is state-of-the-art in their architecture and their technology, even though they are a small school.
