DISTRIBUTING INFORMATION TO STUDENTS
All new students are given a copy of The Pinnacle, the student handbook, during Summit. If any new student does not attend Summit, then the handbook will be given to the student at Late Registration.
Annually, a school must provide direct individual notice to each person about the reports and policies listed below. The notice must include a brief summary of the information, provide the Internet or Intranet Web site address where the information can be found; state that upon request the student is entitled to a paper copy; and inform the student how to request a paper copy. The Office of Student Affairs sends an email to all students by mid-September which includes the required information on the following:

Every year we must provide you with information that deals with reports and policies. Please take time to review the following:
The Pinnacle, student handbook
The student handbook contains information on what to do in case of an emergency, the College’s mission statement and Educational Principles, policies for student life, student organization information, Student Government Association Constitution, Honor Code, academic policies, social regulations and policies, the judicial system, etc. Every new student should have received a copy of The Pinnacle. If you did not receive a copy, please go by the Student Activities Office and pick up your copy. Returning students can find a copy of the handbook posted at:

Clery Report
All colleges and universities are required to report campus crime. Statistics for Shorter College are reported in The Pinnacle and on the Shorter website at :

FERPA Policy
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords students certain rights with respect to their educational records. The policy can be found in The Pinnacle, Shorter College Catalog, and on Shorter’s website at:

Alcohol and Other Drug Policies
The use of alcohol, illegal drugs, and marijuana are prohibited at Shorter College, including all sites for the Professional Studies Program and any College sponsored event on or off campus, and are incompatible with the goals of the institution. Smoking is allowed only in the gazebos. The policy is found in The Pinnacle and the website at:
