November 8, 2007 – Shorter College students take a quick break and view their painting progress. Five art majors have worked during the night – even throughout the night at times – to bring color and creativity to the renovated West Rome McDonald’s. They began the project on Oct. 24, and the “Shorter Jungle Gallery” will be unveiled during McDonald’s re-opening reception on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m.
McDonald’s interior walls near the children’s play area are now covered with murals of jungle animals, rainforest landscapes and waterfall scenes. Shorter students Laura Bowen of Marietta, Ga.; Matt Bradley of Tallahassee, Fla.; Oudvin Cassel of Liberia; Mitzi Davis of Florence, S.C.; and Emily Vines of Weoguska, Ala., have almost completed their project but will put finishing touches on their murals this week.
