February 5, 2013 - The Arnold Art Gallery at Shorter University is hosting an exhibit of artwork by Delores Surry-Smith through Feb. 28. Surry-Smith will also present an artist’s lecture at 11 a.m. on Feb. 28 in the gallery. The exhibit and the lecture are open to the public at no charge. Surry-Smith describes her exhibit entitled “Black Sights and Sounds Retrospective” as “a look into the Black American lifestyle using color and texture to describe the light and sounds of everyday life as seen through the eyes of an artist. This body of work is intended to show the love of God, family and community that exists in the black family.” Delores Surry-Smith works in many media including acrylic, oil, watercolor and mixed media collage. She is past president of African Americans for the Arts and a member of the Atlanta Artist Center. She resides in Atlanta, Georgia. The Arnold Art Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
