Shorter University welcomes J. Robert White as guest speaker during weekly chapel service

March 20, 2012 - Executive Director of the Georgia Baptist Convention Dr. J. Robert White was welcomed as Shorter University’s guest speaker during Tuesday’s chapel service.

The scripture for Dr. White’s message came from the gospel of Matthew, chapter 27, verse 15. Recounting Jesus’ suffering, crucifixion and resurrection, Dr. White’s sermon focused on the importance of personal salvation through Jesus Christ. “We all stand in need of the loving grace of Jesus Christ.” He also encouraged those in attendance to share their faith in Jesus with others. “Take the light of the Gospel and wave it in our community, in our families and with our friends.”

Dr. White has served as the executive director of the Georgia Baptist Convention since January 1993. He came to the GBC from First Baptist Church of Paducah, Ky., where he served as pastor for 11 years.
