Donation to Toys for Tots equals free ticket to Saturday's Shorter Hawks football game

November 9, 2011 - Shorter University student groups invite the Rome community to take part in a toy drive to benefit needy children in the local community. Toys will be collected at the Saturday, Nov. 12, Shorter Hawks football game vs. Bethel University. Anyone bringing a new, unwrapped toy for donation to Toys for Tots will receive a free ticket to the football game. Volunteers will be collecting toys at all gates to Barron Stadium beginning at 12:30 p.m. Kickoff for the game is at 1:30 p.m.

The toy drive has been organized by the Shorter chapter of the Student Professional Association of Georgia Educators (SPAGE), the Student Georgia Association of Educators (SGAE) and Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.

The Toys for Tots Program collects new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December and distributes those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the communities from which the toys are collected. The local Toys for Tots program serves children ranging from birth to age 12 in Floyd and Polk Counties.
