Graduates awarded Shorter University’s Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

June 6, 2011 - Two graduates were recently awarded the Shorter University Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship. They will begin classes at Shorter in August 2011.

The Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship provides tuition for eight semesters, excluding summers. To qualify for this scholarship, a transfer student must hold at least a 3.5 grade point average and have completed at least 24 semester hours. Scholarship recipients must then maintain a 3.25 cumulative grade point average at Shorter. Shorter’s fall semester begins August 18.

Tamatha Early Tamatha Early is the daughter of Jack and Beverly Early of Rome. She was homeschooled and went on to receive her GED from Coosa Valley Technical College. She has earned her Health Care Assistant certificate as well as a Medical Transcription certificate and maintained dean’s list status three years in a row while attending Georgia Highlands College. Early would like to obtain a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and become a Certified Professional Accountant.
   
Charlene Farner Charlene Farner is currently attending Scott Community College in Bettendorf, Iowa as a Phi Theta Kappa officer and is the daughter-in-law of Mary Farner of Monroe, Mich.
