Shorter University's Nancy Mount tapped to serve on advisory committee for national business organization
October 28, 2010 - Nancy Mount, assistant professor of business at Shorter University’s Robert H. Ledbetter College of Business, was selected to serve as a member of the national faculty advisory committee for Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE).
The faculty advisory committee serves as the primary liaison between the SIFE organization and the participating SIFE teams in the United States. The primary objective of the committee is to enhance SIFE programming activities including training, mentor development, the development of options to increase student participation and the development of integrated SIFE programs on college and university campuses.
Mount began Shorter’s SIFE program three years ago and serves as faculty advisor. SIFE, a non-profit worldwide organization, is a diverse network of university students, academic professionals and industry leaders who are dedicated to the mission of creating a better, more sustainable world through the positive power of business. The Shorter SIFE team, under Mount’s direction, has garnered several accolades over the last few years. |

In 2009, the Shorter SIFE team was honored for outstanding performance and was named “Rookie of the Year.” In 2010, they earned first place in the regional Campbell’s Soup “Let’s Can Hunger Drive,” collecting more than 2,000 cans of food that were donated to a local food pantry.
A resident of Cartersville, Mount has been a full-time member of the Shorter faculty for three years. Prior to that, she served as an adjunct professor at Shorter for 10 years. She holds a degree in management from Shorter and a master’s in management from Faulkner University. Mount is working toward completing her doctoral degree.
