Shorter College welcomes cello sensation Ruslan Biryukov as part its Guest Artist Series
September 25 - Cellist Ruslan Biryukov will perform at Shorter College on Monday, Sept. 28, as part of the college’s Guest Artist Series. The concert will take place inside Brookes Chapel at 7:30 p.m. and is open to the public with no admission charge.
As a charismatic young performer that is committed to lifelong music making and teaching, Biryukov draws his audience in with his passion and technique. Biryukov is a graduate of Baku Music Academy, Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory, and USC Thornton School of Music. He has preformed with violinist Midori at the Disney Hall in Los Angeles, cellist Kirill Rodin, and members of the Ysaye Quartet .
He first earned international recognition by winning major awards in Azerbaijan and by the inclusion of his name in the Gold Book of Russia’s international program, “New Names.” Biryukov has gone on to win numerous other awards worldwide, including the 17th annual Mu Phi Epsilon International Competition. He has performed throughout the world, including countries in for former USSR and Europe.
