Shorter College’s Arnold Gallery will feature the works of senior Lynne Anne Lee beginning April 13. Titled “Flowers – Nature’s Masterpieces,” the exhibit will open with an artist’s reception on April 13 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. The public is invited, and there is no cost for admission.

Lee, a resident of Rome, developed a love for flowers at a very young age after stumbling upon Flower Fairies, a book by Cicely M. Barker that belonged to her grandparents. “I used to pour over the pictures and dream that I was the Black-Eyed Susan. It [the book] started my love affair with flowers,” Lee said. “I choose to paint flowers because they are such a part of me. They are the natural perfection of beauty. With oil paints, I can create this same beauty, and it will be there long after the flowers have faded and died.”

Lee’s exhibit will close on April 17.

Painting of a woman by Elisabeth Watts Artwork by Shorter College senior Elisabeth Watts will be on display from April 20 to 25 inside the college’s Arnold Gallery. Her exhibit, titled “In Truth,” will kick off with an opening reception on April 20 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The public is invited to attend, and there is no charge for admission.

Watts’ work focuses mainly on human emotion, shown through facial expression and body language. “The nuance in the human face is ever varied and interesting,” Watts said. “Each line, every contour and shape speaks of something familiar yet altogether different. With each image, I paired a song, a scrap of a book or some thought of my own, and those words can be found on every single canvas. These paintings all bear the physical mark of an internal process, and each holds a small piece of myself.” Watts is a resident of Cartersville.

The Shorter College Arnold Gallery is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

A resident of Alpharetta, Shaver’s exhibit, titled “In Every Little Thing,” aims to communicate emotions and feelings through her photographic images.

“I’m ordinary, but I feel my worth because of Jesus and I want my audience to know that He is good,” Shaver said about her work. “To tell my story, I’ve used both photography and graphic printing, and I know I can more clearly communicate to my audience through these media.” Through her photographs, Shaver hopes to convey the feelings of home and family life that she’s experienced in her own life.

The Shorter College Arnold Gallery is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
