Shorter College colorguard dominates competition at Indian River Classic
April 6 - In their first-ever competition appearance, the Shorter College colorguard dominated more than 40 other guards to bring home several notable awards.
Shorter’s guard joined teams from all over Georgia and Alabama to compete in at the Southern Association for Performing Arts’ Indian River Classic recently. During the two-day weekend competition, the colorguard, known as Shorter Independence, won the day competition on Saturday and the entire event on Sunday. This included two victories over Berry College.
Shorter’s overall scores were among the highest tallies ever recorded by a first-time competitor. The colorguard are regular members of the Shorter Marching Hawks Band, which was created in 2007.
