Shorter College’s William D. and Mary Ann Knight competition finals planned for April 5
March 26 - The eighth annual William D. and Mary Ann Knight Performers’ Scholarship Competition will take place on Sunday, April 5, at 3 p.m. inside Shorter College’s Brookes Chapel.
The competition is designed to honor the outstanding contributions of the Knights, both longtime music faculty members of Shorter College. Mr. Knight is retired distinguished professor of piano and taught at Shorter from 1963 until 2004. Mrs. Knight is in her 43rd year of teaching piano at Shorter.
Exclusive to Shorter students, the finals will showcase top performers that will compete for two $1,000 scholarships; one in voice and one in keyboard. One winner per category is selected each year. The competition is open to the public. Tickets are $12 for general admission and $8 for students and senior adults.
