Finn promoted to dean of Shorter College’s School of Business Management
March 18 - Dr. Barbara Finn has been named dean of Shorter College’s School of Business Management. The school is part of the college’s Professional Studies Program for working adults.
Dr. Finn, a resident of Atlanta, has been a full-time member of Shorter’s Professional Studies faculty since 2002. Prior to her appointment as dean, she served as associate professor of management and was chair of undergraduate business programs in the School of Business Management. She also chaired the college-wide Curriculum Revision Task Force.
A former business executive, Dr. Finn brings extensive industry experience in management, marketing, human resources and leadership development to her new position.
“She has a great depth of experience in business, a motivating personality and a desire to create a high quality Professional Studies curriculum,” said Dr. Carl W. Ericsson, associate provost of Shorter’s School of Professional Studies. “She believes in the Shorter College adult students and supports their efforts to improve their lives by coming back to school.”

Dr. Finn earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Georgia, a Master of Business Administration in marketing from Valdosta State University and a doctorate in business from Capella University. She also completed Harvard University’s Advanced Management Program.
