Shorter College Theatre Department to Present "Tartuffe" Feb. 19-24 The Shorter College Theatre Department will present its spring play, “Tartuffe,” Tuesday through Sunday, Feb. 19-24. Performances begin at 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday in Callaway Theatre on the Shorter College campus. General admission tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students and senior adults. For tickets, contact the Shorter College box office at (706) 233-7288 or boxoffice@shorter.edu. “Tartuffe” is one of Molière ’s funniest and most frequently performed plays. Richard Wilbur translated the text and composed the rhymed couplets for this edition. The play centers around Orgon, a well-to-do man who has been deceived by Tartuffe, a con artist who is posing as a humble priest. Orgon extols the virtues of Tartuffe even as he is swindled out of his fortune, his family and even his home. With nothing left to lose, Orgon discovers the truth about Tartuffe. Dr. Anna Filippo, chair of the theatre department and assistant professor of theatre at Shorter College, will direct this performance. ###
