Organist Peter DeWitt to perform faculty recital at Shorter College Jan. 28
Organist Peter DeWitt will present a faculty recital at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 28, in Shorter College’s Brookes Chapel. The recital is open to the public at no charge.
Dr. DeWitt’s program titled “Those Mmmarvelous Mmms” will include music by composers whose surnames begin with the letter m, such as Mendelssohn, Mozart, Marchand, Muffat and de Macque. Music by Olivier Messiaen will also be featured in honor of his 100 th birthday. The program will include a variety of selections dating from 1600 to 1950.
Dr. DeWitt, professor of music at Shorter College, is chair of the Department of Music and college organist. He received the 2003-2004 President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and Scholarship. He has performed as a harpsichord, piano and organ soloist and ensemble player throughout the Southeastern United States and in Europe. In Fall 2000, he presented the complete four volumes of Clavierubung by Bach in five consecutive recitals at several venues. |
