Dr. Regina Zona to Present Faculty Recital
Dr. Regina Zona, assistant professor of music at Shorter College, will present a faculty recital in Brookes Chapel at Shorter College on Monday, Nov. 19, at 7:30 p.m. The recital is open to the public at no charge.
Joining Dr. Zona will be pianist David Holkeboer. Dr. Zona and Mr. Holkeboer have collaborated on recitals for several years.
The Nov. 19 program celebrates two of the 20 th century’s best vocal composers – Richard Strauss and Samuel Barber. Song collections by Strauss include Op. 69 and Vier letzte Lieder, and works by Barber include an aria from Vanessa and Knoxville: Summer of 1915.
Dr. Zona received a Bachelor of Music degree from Northwestern University. She also holds a Performance Certificate from the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, as well as a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Manhattan School of Music.
Mr. Holkeboer received his bachelor’s degree from Calvin College in Michigan and his Master of Music in vocal coaching and accompanying from the University of Illinois. He has a coaching studio in New York City and frequently collaborates with singers for recitals.
