Shorter Chorale Releases Christmas CD
The Shorter Chorale, the premiere performing ensemble of Shorter College, has released a Christmas CD titled A Savior from on High. The CD is the first Shorter Chorale recording to be nationally released, according Dr. Martha Shaw, conductor.
The recording features the current Chorale and several alumni including 2007 Metropolitan Opera National Council Audition winner Jamie Barton, 2006 Music Teachers National Association voice competition winner Lenora Green, Nick Almand, Patrick Harvey, and Joe Knighton.
Included on the CD are works that the Chorale has not performed in concert as well as traditional favorites. “The CD tells the story of the Nativity including selections about Mary, the star, the shepherds, the wise men, and even the flight into Egypt,” Dr. Shaw said. “Also included are holiday favorites such as Sleigh Ride and Jingle Bells.”
The A Savior from on High CD is available for $15 by calling (706) 233-7366 or through any member of the Shorter Chorale. Proceeds from the sale will help Chorale members defray the cost of their May 2008 tour to Italy. “The cost of producing the CDs has already been covered so every penny from the sales goes into students’ accounts for the Chorale tour,” Dr. Shaw added.
The CD was developed by ACA Digital Recording with Fyodor Cherniavsky as producer and Fred Horton as recording engineer.
