Shorter College Hosts Christian Focus Week Shorter College students, faculty and staff will attend worship services and special events this week in coordination with the college’s annual Christian Focus Week, Oct. 1-4. The public is invited to attend at no charge. The week’s activities begin on Monday, Oct. 1, at 9:30 p.m. in The Mug on Shorter’s campus. Students and campus community members will view The End of the Spear, the true story of a group of Christian missionaries who set out to reach a violent tribe of natives in Ecuador. On Tuesday, Oct. 2, Shorter College will host a prayer breakfast and morning devotion at 8 a.m. in the Austin Moses Room. This will be followed by a chapel service at 11 a.m. in Brookes Chapel. The chapel service will be led by Rohan Peart, senior pastor of Josiah Vision Ministries in Marietta, Ga., and the worship music will be led by Jay Leslie, director of worship and student ministries at Christ Community Church in Columbus, Ga. Peart and Leslie will again lead a chapel service on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 11 a.m. in Brookes Chapel. On Thursday, Oct. 4, the 11 a.m. worship service will be led by Allen Jackson, professor of youth education and director of the Youth Ministry Institute at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Jackson will also speak Thursday evening at 6:45 p.m. in the Austin Moses Room. This evening event is the weekly Refuge gathering, coordinated by Shorter’s Baptist Collegiate Ministries.
