Dr. Sabrena Parton to serve as dean of liberal arts at Shorter College
Dr. Sabrena Parton has been named dean of the School of Liberal Arts at Shorter College. She will oversee the departments of humanities, communication arts and religion.
Dr. Parton has been a member of Shorter’s faculty since fall 2006, serving as an associate professor of communication.
“Dr. Parton brings a great communications background to her new role as dean,” said Dr. Craig Shull, provost. “I believe her leadership will contribute greatly to the overall mission of the college and, in particular, to the mission of the School of Liberal Arts.”
Dr. Parton holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in government and a Master of Arts degree in communication from Morehead State University as well as a Ph.D. in communication with a speech communication/organizational communication emphasis from the University of Southern Mississippi. |

Prior to joining the Shorter College faculty, she served as associate professor of communication at Kennesaw State University from 1998 to 2003 and at Berry College from 2003 to 2006. Her previous experience also includes serving in various academic communication roles at William Carey College on the Coast and at Rowan University.
Dr. Parton lives in Cartersville, Ga., with her husband, John, and their three children. The Partons attend Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cartersville, Ga.
