Shorter softball moves up one spot to #6

In the fourth softball ranking released from the NAIA, the Shorter College softball team (34-4, 21-3) is ranked sixth (6th) in the nation, one spot up from last week.
The Lady Hawks went 6-0 since last week's rankings, sweeping #13 Thomas University, and conference foes Brewton-Parker and Faulkner. They are unmoved from their number one spot in the Region XIII ranking.
Yesterday, the Lady Hawks clinched the SSAC regular season softball title with the sweep of Faulkner. The conference title gains Shorter an automatic bid to the region tournament, regardless of their placement in the SSAC tournament. The winner of the region tournament receives an automatic bid to the national tournament in Decatur, Alabama on May 18-23.
Shorter travels to Athens, Tenn. on Thursday to play Tennessee Wesleyan in non-conference action.
