Shorter College Students Earn Awards at Regional Competition Hosted by
the National Association of Teachers of Singing
Five Shorter College singers claimed first-place awards at the regional competition of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), with Shorter students also filling two spots on both the second-place and third-place lists. The Southeastern regional competition, which includes students from Alabama, Florida, and Georgia, was held March 30 and 31 at Florida State University in Tallahassee.
First-place recipients were Jenica Reed (Freshmen Women category), Hanna Strickland and Rachel Roby (tie in the Lower Level Musical Theatre Women category), Jonathan Altman (Lower Level Musical Theatre Men), and Megan Cone (Upper Level Musical Theatre Women).
Second-place spots went to Rachel Roby (Sophomore Women) and John Womack (Lower Level Musical Theatre Men), with Andy McLeod (Junior Men) and Brishelle Jacobs (Upper Level Musical Theatre Women) finishing in third place. |

Jonathan Altman is a freshman musical theatre major from Warner Robins, Ga. Senior musical theatre major Megan Cone is from Thomasville, Ga. Brishelle Jacobs is a junior vocal performance major from Bradenton, Fla. Junior vocal performance major Andy McLeod is from Calhoun, Ga. Jenica Reed is a freshman vocal performance major from Panama City, Fla. Rachel Roby, a sophomore vocal performance major, is from Shelby, N.C. Hanna Strickland, a freshman musical theatre major, is from Bogart, Ga. John Womack, a sophomore vocal performance major, is from Brunswick, Ga.
NATS is the largest association of teachers of singing in the world, with members in more than 25 countries.
