Matthew Hoch to perform faculty voice recital at Shorter College March 27

Due to a variety of issues, the Faculty Recital originally scheduled for Tuesday evening, March 27th, at 7:30 PM in Brookes Chapel has been postponed until a later date (TBA).

Baritone Matthew Hoch will present a faculty voice recital at Shorter College on Tuesday, March 27. He will be assisted by Shorter music faculty members Dr. Linda Lister, soprano, and Elizabeth Blood, pianist. The recital, which begins at 7:30 p.m. in Shorter’s Brookes Chapel, is open to the public at no charge.

Dr. Hoch’s recital is titled “Art Song, Opera and Musical Theatre.” It will include Robert Shumann’s Eichendorff Liederkreis, Op. 39, a well-known example 19 th century German romanticism, as well as duets from Gaetano Donzetti’s Don Pasquale, Jerome Kern’s Show Boat, and Leonard Bernstein’s On the Town.

Dr. Hoch, assistant professor of music, teaches private voice lessons and conducts the Shorter Chorus. He joined Shorter’s faculty in 2006 and holds degrees from Ithaca College, the Hartt School and the New England Conservatory.

Dr. Linda Lister, assistant professor of music, teaches private voice lessons and directs Shorter’s Opera Program. She holds degrees from Vassar College, the Eastman School of Music and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Ms. Blood serves as Shorter’s resident coach and accompanist. She holds degrees from Northwestern University and Florida State University.
