Hawks football ends losing streak, beats Cumberland Univ., 30-10
The Shorter Hawks (5-4, 2-1 MSC West) football team were able to snap out of a three game losing streak on Thursday night as they came out and beat the Cumberland Bulldogs, 30-10.
After getting blanked in the first quarter and going down 3-0, the Hawks returned with 27 unanswered points through the third quarter. The Bulldogs scored their only other points at the top of the fourth, which wouldn't be nearly enough to put the Hawks down.
Fabian Daniel was the star for the Hawks as he ran 123 yards rushing, with a 97 yard carry for a touchdown, and picked up an astounding 145 yards on kickoff returns. Logan Lollis was the defensive player of the game for Shorter with eight tackles (7 unassisted) and one interception.
Shorter continues Mid-South Conference play next weekend (Nov. 4) against Belhaven College. The game will also be a celebration of Shorter's homecoming and alumni weekend and starts at 2:30 p.m.
