Dr. L. Craig Shull to Serve as Provost at Shorter College
Dr. L. Craig Shull has been named provost at Shorter College. Effective Aug. 1, he will serve as the college’s chief academic officer and oversee the school’s information technology division.
Dr. Shull has been a member of Shorter’s faculty since 1997, serving most recently as associate provost. In this role, he managed operations for the college’s Professional Studies Program, which now enrolls more than 1,500 working adults at six sites, including five in the Atlanta area and the college’s traditional campus in Rome.
“Dr. Shull has been instrumental in the growth and success of our Professional Studies Program,” said Dr. Harold E. Newman, president. “I am confident that his strong leadership qualities and his deep commitment to our mission will be vital as he serves as provost.” |

Dr. Shull holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies from Oakland City University as well as Master of Divinity, Master of Theology in New Testament, and a Ph.D. in Church and Community from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Prior to joining the Shorter College faculty, he served as associate director for the General Baptist Home Missions in Poplar Bluff, Mo., from 1983 to 1997. His previous experience also includes serving as pastor of Highfill Chapel General Baptist Church from 1976 to 1982 and as associate pastor of Winslow General Baptist Church from 1974 to 1976.
Dr. Shull lives in Euharlee, Ga., with his wife, Diana. They have three grown children. The Shulls attend First Baptist Church in Cartersville, Ga.
