Exhibit showcasing work by Shorter College art professor
Brian Taylor, associate professor of art and chair of the art department at Shorter College, has been invited to participate in an exhibit at the Galesburg Civic Art Center in Galesburg, Ill. Joining Taylor in the exhibit is Shorter College alumnus Micah Cain. The exhibit will be on display through July 15. |

Taylor is a multimedia artist with an interest in the emotive qualities of color in two- and three-dimensional form. His paintings share a focus on movement and expressive energy with the abstract expressionists. He is active in the exhibition of his artwork both national and international, having exhibited in New York, Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, New Orleans, Atlanta and Miami. International exhibits have been in La Paz, Bolivia; Adline, Australia; Tokyo; Paris; and Berlin.
He serves as a member of the Editorial Board for Collegiate Press, and he is a member of the national organization of art educators - Foundations in Art Teacher Education. He is also the co-founder of The Creative Learning Center, which conducts workshops for children with learning difficulties. On campus in addition to his studio coursework instruction, Mr. Taylor also conducts art seminar courses in Post-Modern Art, Contemporary Women Artists and Multi-Cultural Issues in Contemporary Art. In March of 2001, Mr. Taylor was the recipient of The Shorter College Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership award.
Micah Cain, a ceramicist, is pursuing a Master of Fine Arts at Georgia State University. He studied under Mr. Taylor while working on his bachelor’s degree at Shorter College.
