Position: GIFT OFFICER, ATHLETICS

Job Summary
This person shall serve as the primary fundraising officer for the college’s athletic department. This person will also be responsible for facilitating and/or conducting all fundraising programs for the athletic departments’ booster clubs and support groups. This person will work closely with the athletic director to prioritize fundraising needs.
- Responsible for all fundraising programs that directly benefit the athletic department.
- Responsible for all cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of an assigned group of prospects and donors.
- Responsible to raise an amount of support, determined by the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, so as to further the overall mission of the college.
- Responsible for leadership and/or oversight of assigned institutional priorities.

Position Requirements
Candidates for this position should meet the following requirements:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Any area of study is acceptable, but preference will be given to majors in communication, business, the social sciences and each disciplines related fields.
- Possess excellent communication skills which should be demonstrated with writing samples and/or any items that demonstrate the candidate’s ability to communicate effectively.
- Have at least three years of successful experience in fundraising.
- The ability to travel, 80% of which will be locally or statewide.
- Be an individual who thrives in a work environment that emphasizes team work.
- Be a goal-oriented person who utilizes excellent time management skills.
- This person must also be able to multi-task numerous projects.
- The ideal candidate is able to work effectively with volunteers and fellow staff members.

Position: ACADEMIC ADVISOR - ATLANTA CAMPUS

The Academic Advisor has responsibility for providing direct academic assistance to students enrolled in the Shorter College Professional Studies programs. This position reports administratively to the Associate Dean of Students.
The Academic Advisor will:
- Provide academic advising to students.
- Advising responsibilities include:
- Monitoring advisee attendance in classes
- Monitoring course progress
- Monitoring satisfactory academic progress
- Monitoring degree completion planning
- Performing graduation audits with advisees
- Teach a four week Introduction course.
- Mediate student conflict issues.
- Attend a monthly staff meeting at the North Atlanta campus.
- Work with Enrollment Services in responding to prospective student questions.

Position: PUBLIC RELATIONS SPECIALIST - ROME CAMPUS

The PR Specialist will play a key role in Shorter College’s public relations operation through the following key functions:
- Media Relations
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with area media
- Maintain up-to-date media contact lists
- Respond to media-generated inquiries in a timely fashion
- Assist in coordination of the college’s crisis communication plan, including notifications in case of inclement weather
- Prepare and distribute news releases, tip sheets, and alerts related to campus news/events
- Pitch feature story ideas to targeted media
- Internal communications
- Coordinate and handle on-campus announcements, as appropriate
- Assist in on-campus communication during emergency situations
- Manage updates to the college’s main switchboard greeting

Position: DIRECTOR OF LIBRARY SERVICES

Shorter College is searching for a Director of Library Services. A 12-month position reporting to the Provost. The successful applicant will provide leadership in the provision of information services to an institution that has a strong Christian, liberal arts undergraduate program and is expanding its graduate offerings, which include a School of Nursing. Housed on a beautiful, hilltop campus in Rome, Georgia, the institution has a regional reputation for its music and theater programs as well as its commitment to a Christian education as a Georgia Baptist institution.
Responsibilities:
The Director of Library Services is responsible for all usual and customary management duties, including management of the budget, assuring delivery of day-to-day services, and supervision and evaluation of all library staff. In addition, he/she will:
- Work with library staff to:
- establish long-range and annual goals for library services
- create a plan to balance print and electronic resources and maximize the use of available budget dollars
- develop and implement a program to assess library services, including collection and analysis of data and documentation of response to findings
- develop and maintain library policies
- perform appropriate public relations / awareness activities to encourage use of library resources and services

Duties and Responsibilities
The initial positions will be part time beginning January 2009 with transition to full time status by January 2010. Initial responsibilities will be the development of the policies, procedures, and curriculum of an innovative baccalaureate degree program in nursing.
