Position: AFFILIATE LIBRARIAN

Shorter College is searching for an Affiliate Librarian for its’ Rome campus. This is a 12-month entry-level position reporting to the Director of Library Services.

Responsibilities:

The Affiliate Librarian provides reference and instruction to students and faculty. In addition, this position supervises check-in/maintenance of the periodical collection and serves as back-up for interlibrary loan.

Requirements:

A Master’s Degree in Library or Information Science or equivalent from an ALA accredited institution.

Ability to demonstrate current knowledge of electronic information services and resources, high public service orientation, desire to work in a team environment, and a willingness to be flexible with scheduling and other duties.

Position: ONLINE ENROLLMENT COORDINATOR

Reporting to the Director of Online Programs and the Vice President of Admissions, the Online Enrollment Coordinator works diligently to contact and enroll prospective students in Shorter College’s online programs, and guide them through the application process. The Online Enrollment Coordinator is responsible for supporting students through the whole enrollment process and up until to the completion of the first week of class.

The Online Enrollment Coordinator responsibilities include:

  • Participating in the planning and implementation of student recruitment strategies;
  • Contacting students within the stipulated timeframes via telephone and email;
  • Using his/her sales and consultative skills to answer the student’s questions, make course recommendations, and guide the student through the admissions process;
  • Determining the students eligibility, collecting all required documents and fees, and enrolling the student in suitable programs and courses;
  • Coordinate with the Shorter College Financial Aid office with the collection of Financial Aid information and materials;
  • Communicating with supervisors and other team members regarding the students enrollment status;
  • Resolving any problems and issues with prospective and enrolled students including removing them from enrollment in a class if necessary;
  • Providing support to other team members to help them meet their goals;
  • Making recommendations to the Director of Online Programs for new or improved course offerings and for improvements to operational procedures.

To be successful the Online Enrollment Coordinator must:

  • Achieve performance standards as set by the Director of Online Programs and the Vice President of Admissions;
  • Identify opportunities for, and actively seek student referrals;
  • Provide realistic advice to prospective students to help them form realistic expectations regarding their course of study;
  • Review all enrollment documentation and produce all appropriate reports;
  • Provide accurate reporting on the effectiveness of recruitment efforts and maintain and distribute accurate and timely student records;
  • Comply with and have a current knowledge of all appropriate admissions standards and policies including federal and state policies;
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the current programs and courses offered by Shorter College;
  • Participate in all required or appropriate meetings, training sessions, and programs for self-improvement and professional development;
  • Co-ordinate recruitment efforts between and facilitate communications between Online Programs, Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Services, Business Office, Registrar, Faculty and other appropriate departments and individuals;
  • Ensure that all duties are carried out employing the highest ethical standards and quality;
  • Act as a team member, assisting other members of the Shorter College staff and faculty where appropriate and as directed by your supervisors
  • Perform other duties related to the Online Programs assigned by the Director of Online Programs and the Vice President of Admissions.

  • Great communications skills
  • Computer and Internet competency (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Powerpoint)
  • Availability to work some evenings and weekends
  • 1-5 years of inside sales/telephone sales experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in student recruitment and higher education preferred.

Position: ADJUNCT PROFESSORS - PROFESSIONAL STUDIES

Shorter College is now hiring adjunct instructors for its non-traditional, accelerated program in the fields of economics, accounting, finance, science, and philosophy to teach in both the undergraduate and graduate programs. 

Undergraduate instructors must possess a master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in a specific discipline. Graduate instructors must possess a terminal degree.
