Welcome to the January 2012 Virtually Shorter!

Hoop Hawks No. 1 in the nation
For the first time in program history, the Shorter men’s basketball team claimed the No. 1 ranking in the NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball Coaches Top 25 Poll. Shorter began the season ranked No. 12, which tied the program’s highest ranking to date. The Hawks have reeled off 19 straight wins to open the year and have built a rather impressive resume that includes two wins over a ranked Freed-Hardeman squad, a road win over SSAC West Division favorite Mobile, a 15-point road victory over defending SSAC champion Emmanuel, and a 9-point victory over No. 4 ranked Southern Poly.
Did you know?
Did you know that junior JoAnna Davis was crowned as Miss Shorter University 2012? JoAnna, a resident of Cartersville, is a nursing major involved in the campus nursing club. JoAnna’s performances in the on-stage interview, talent and evening wear portions of the Miss Shorter Pageant earned her the favor of the judges and the crown. As part of her prize, JoAnna received a $2,000 scholarship and has earned a chance to compete in the Miss Georgia Scholarship Pageant later this year, a preliminary for Miss America.
