For 15 years, LaTonja Threets-Hamp served in management positions with John Harland Company and Deluxe Corporation. Her career had progressed nicely, but she ultimately realized, if she wanted to continue to grow in the corporate arena, she would need a college degree.
On the value of a degree
"There's only so far you can go at the management level without a degree. I knew if I wanted to remain competitive in the work force, it was absolutely essential that I pursue my diploma."
On choosing Shorter
"When I left college years ago, I got married, had children, and just never thought I'd have the time to go back for my degree. But Shorter's class schedule – one evening of class a week and another evening with my study group – allows me to maintain my “normal-busy” life, without college feeling like a burden."
On the adult focus
"It's an adult program, so you're surrounded by other adults. You're going through this together with people who are close in age to you, as opposed to younger teenagers. It's a great atmosphere – very calm, very comfortable."
On the quality academics
"The quality of the program is beyond what I imagined. Shorter professors are wonderful! They genuinely care about your success. Their goal is to provide the best education possible and bring out the best in every student."
